Travel insurance is always a good idea. It minimizes time and finance losses due to detours and other unexpected plan changes. A clear progress quality monitoring plan is your initiative’s trip insurance. It will help you to stay the course and be vigilant about potential detours requiring re-routing.

Research supports Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles as an effective way of evaluating plans and identifying challenges. Examining the current data system will determine current capacity and effectiveness and inform needed tweaks to the plan prior to testing out the initiative. The district team will need to identify appropriate assessment and fidelity measures, data collection schedule, and staff expectations prior to the initial implementation stage.

Does the current data system have the capacity to manage what is needed to monitor progress?
Who will periodically evaluate fidelity once a fidelity measure, and criteria to monitor staff implementation of practices, is identified?
Will professional development and coaching evaluations be used to monitor effectiveness?
Will staff and coach input on fidelity evaluations be collected?
What staff will need to be trained to use the selected impact performance measure?
Will staff and family satisfaction surveys be a source of data collection?
Will the communication plan have an embedded request for stakeholder questions and feedback?
