Everyone needs a good travel agent! In 2016, the Office of Special Education at the Indiana Department of Education and the Early Childhood Center at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community formed a partnership with the goals of promoting best practices in Early Childhood Special Education and providing technical assistance to school districts because data analysis over several years discovered inequities of service provision and impact. This partnership developed The Child Impact Project to meet these goals which began with working to increase high quality Preschool Inclusion (3-5 years) and has evolved to include Early Literacy (3 – 8 years).
The Child Impact Project has involved:
- Data analysis
- Identifying and promoting best practices
- Publishing an online searchable directory
- Creating and disseminating data dashboards
- Providing tiered levels of technical assistance and resources to districts
